The Psychics
Jackie Dennison and
Christine Hamlett are the Rescue Mediums. They both, independently, knew that they had spiritual gifts when they were very young. But they never shared that knowledge with one another until much later in life. Now, they are an inseparable duo who have helped the police solve crimes and have stopped hauntings in everything from castles to regular homes.
They were recently called to the Roebuck Pub in Cheshire, England following reports from a terrified staff that they had seen an ominous dark apparition gliding around the premises. They began their spirit rescue. The apparition was that of a woman named Hannah. She told Jackie and Chris that she had owned the pub years before and had died in 1876 from a chest complaint. She also told them that she was not "bound" to this place - meaning that she was not a trapped spirit. She said that she just, simply, liked to come back and see the pub.
Following their ghostly meeting, the duo went to the local Town Hall to check the registry - they indeed discovered that a woman named Hannah Latham had owned the pub and had died there, just as she had told them, from chest complaints.
Jackie and Chris usually rescue spirits by "showing them to the light". This involves a meditation process by which they open up a spiritual portal that guides the way for ghosts to leave their earthbound existence and move into the spirit world. But Hannah was not trapped at all. The psychics explained this to the staff and told them that Hannah meant absolutely no harm whatsoever. The staff reported that, even though the apparition continued to visit, there was no longer any fear. They accepted her.
In Leicestershire they had been told that an old house had problems with lights going on and off upstairs and a computer being switched on and off all night long. Jackie and Christine found the spirit of a young boy with Down Syndrome. He was unhappy and afraid and he was definitely bound to this house.
When they described what they had found out to the owner of the house, he knew what they had seen. Years ago, a vicar had resided in the house and had a young son with Down Syndrome. The vicar was so ashamed that he kept his son away from the public eye - he had kept him isolated in the closet next to that particular upstairs room.
The women kept talking to the young boy, kept showing him a path into the light and the boy's Grandfather came and guided him beyond and into the true spirit world. The house was restored to normalcy.
There are many stories of the rescue mediums and one of the most famous is how they have been helping the Manchester Constabulary in the United Kingdom in their on-going efforts to locate the grave of Keith Bennett -- he was the last victim of the terrible Moors Murders commited by Myra Hinckley and Ian Brady. If the gravesite is eventually located on the Saddleworth Moors, then, after more than forty years, the boy's mother might be able to find closure.
Jackie and Christine, although gifted with incredible psychic abilities, are very down-to-earth. They tackle each task with sincerity and humour and, at the end of a haunting, make no bones about wanting to have a few of the "other" kind of spirit - whiskey being their beverage of choice!
