The story of how the producers met the Rescue Mediums is very interesting and somewhat mysterious. A lady in Vancouver was doing genealogical research on her family. She traced her lineage to a home in Toronto, whose current resident was a man named Michael Lamport (who is now one of the show's producers). She "Googled" Michael's contact information, and he assisted her with her research by visiting the Toronto Archives and sending her old information about the Riverdale house in which he lived. During one telephone conversation, she mentioned that she had a cousin in the United Kingdom who was a psychic and had recently been on the television there in connection with a police Cold Case file. The "Googling" had shown her that Michael was in the television business with several other shows at this point. The lady from Vancouver indicated that it might be a good idea to contact Christine and Jackie to see if a documentary could be created around their craft.

Michael waited, as he was in the midst of completing another documentary. But something was nagging at him. So, one day, he called over to the UK and spoke with Jackie, explaining the purpose of his call. The series of events that then took place were quite astonishing. Michael and Gregory Sheppard (another of the show's producers) flew over to England to meet the ladies. They discovered that Jackie's Great Uncle, OLIVER HAMLETT, had actually BUILT Michael's house so many years ago! He and his wife, Perdita, had lived and raised children there.

Michael and Gregory shot a demo of the ladies as they cleared the Moon Hotel pub in Derby, UK of a troublesome spirit and presented it to the network. W saw the possibilities and the exciting nature of a documentary series that would be so different from the others coming out onto the market and commissioned the show very quickly. Jackie and Christine then visited Canada for the very first time in their lives. Staying at Michael's house, they quickly informed him that Oliver and Perdita were very happy with him as a current resident and that they hoped he didn't mind them sharing the home with him! Michael's comments: "Well, I guess they don't have to pay rent as they built the place and they never use up any food from the fridge, so I hope they stay!"

During her time in Toronto, Jackie has traced back many events in her family tree, found Oliver's grave and the actual place that he met his demise in an automobile accident. She feels the spirits of her family are at rest and very peaceful, although lights still flash on and off at Michael's house and his two cats sometimes behave strangely! [Top]

Do Jackie and Christine REALLY have no idea where they are going?

Yes. The producers make it a very serious part of the process not to release ANY information to the Mediums whatsoever. All they are aware of is that they are flying to Canada (or elsewhere in the world), but are given no indication which town or city they will be visiting. In certain cases, the Mediums have been gifted with an approximate travel time - just in case they need to use the loo! [Top]

How do you find the hauntings?

Usually word of mouth and asking other organizations connected to the paranormal. We are now also relying heavily on the website to get more stories... so if you have any, please get in touch! Be sure to provide your name, contact information, location and as many details as possible. [Top]

How long does it take to create an episode?

We shoot for three days at the haunted location. About a week of research occurs before and continues during the shooting period. We then have approximately 25 hours of material that has to be reduced to twenty-one minutes and thirty seconds for TV. The editing process takes about three weeks. So, in total, it takes just under a month to formulate an episode. [Top]

Has anyone on the crew seen or felt a ghost?

Yes. One of our cameramen is certain he saw a spirit at the top of the stairs in one location and actually started to film it. Once reviewed, we were not certain if there was an anomaly on the tape or not. Others have experienced very cold sensations where there should be none and have heard noises that cannot be explained. What is the fee associated with appearing on Rescue Mediums?

There is no fee associated with appearing on Rescue Mediums; however, you must be willing to grant our small crew access to your home over a period of 3-4 days and appear on television with your stories. [Top]

When will the show be airing in the United States/United Kingdom/etc?

Can I have an autograph?

Certainly! However, due to the volume of autograph requests the Rescue Mediums receive, we require that anyone interested in obtaining an autograph send a 9 x 12 self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) with appropriate postage to the following address:

Do the mediums conduct private readings, and if so, how much?

Due to their contractual obligations, the Rescue Mediums are unable to conduct private readings. [Top]

Can you refer me to a psychic in my area?

We are unable to recommend any other psychics for legal reasons. However, your local spiritualist church, as well as reliable internet resources such as www.psican.org may be able to refer you to someone capable in your area. You may also try contacting local colleges and universities regarding programs on spiritual and paranormal studies. [Top]

Am I psychic? How can I tell? How do I strengthen my abilities?

JACKIE & CHRISTINE say: The only way to find out is to try! Next time you are standing in the line waiting at the bank, try to foresee which cashier you will end up going to. Next time the postman comes, hold your letter in your hand see what you feel about it - who it is from, what it's about. Experiment with other things similarly. Ask your guide to help you discover/develop your gifts. It does not matter if you do not know his/her name or who he/she is. Your guide knows you. Also try finding a spiritualist church and see if they have an open circle where you can further develop your abilities. [Top]

My house is haunted! I don't want to be on the show, but I want these spirits out!

JACKIE & CHRISTINE say: Bring someone in. Once again, the spiritualist church is the best bet as they will not charge you loads of money. Or try it yourself. Start by going into each room of your home and imagine that it is filling up with white light. Ask your guide and your spirit family to help you. This is called psychic cleaning. The spirits in your home may be disturbed by renovations and changes, or not fully aware that they have passed on. Let them know that the house now belongs to you, guide them to the light and remind them that their loved ones will be there waiting. [Top]

Ouija boards - good idea or bad idea?

JACKIE & CHRISTINE say: It all depends on who is using it and for what reasons. It is not a party game. If it is used in a sober way with a trained medium it can yield helpful results, but there are better ways of communicating. Use it wrongly and you are asking for trouble. [Top]

Is my Aunt Mable with me?

JACKIE & CHRISTINE say: Our spirit family will always be with us to watch over us and to try and help as best they can - but they are no different to how they were in life (ie: they cannot perform miracles). As in life, they come around to offer support and guidance. But they also have to get on with their own development in the spirit world, so you may find as time passes and your need for them lessens, they tend to save their visits for trying times. [Top]

I think my Grandma Gertie is trying to send me a message. How can I communicate with her safely?

JACKIE & CHRISTINE say: Go see a reputable medium. Leave a pen and paper out and ask her to write. Ask her to come to you in a dream state and tell you what she has to say. Visit your local spiritualist church, someone there may be able to communicate her message. [Top]

Is my ghost stalking me? (Is it possible for a ghost to move with me from one location to the next?)

JACKIE & CHRISTINE say: YES! Especially if you have contacted them through the Ouija. Most often this occurs because they are a family member or they have something to say, so they want you to contact a medium who can help them. It's not so much stalking as trying to get through. Of course, if you have done something evil to contribute to their passing... then it's not our help that you need. [Top]

Am I psychic or just crazy?

JACKIE & CHRISTINE say: 'How come when I talk to God, they call it praying... but when God talks to me, they call it paranoid schizophrenia?' This just about sums it up for us. As far as we can tell, the only way to test if it is truly spirit speaking, or purely in your head, is (now this is going to sound totally crazy, but just stay with us) - ask yourself a question you don't know the answer to. Wait and see if you get an answer, then ask a family member who can verify this. Then ask yourself a question you DO know the answer to and try to feel the difference. [Top]

What spiritual beliefs do you ladies hold?

CHRISTINE says: First of all, I don't deal in beliefs. I deal in facts and proof and what I can personally accept as the truth. I am a non-religious free thinker. I am not a spiritualist, meaning I do not feel the need for a chuch or a religion - but I am not critical of those who do. Going to the afterlife when we pass is as natural as being born. We did not need a religion to be born, did we? So we don't need one to pass over after the change called death. Now, you may ask why I have advised people to go to the spiritualist church. This is because many of them offer special development classes - and if you can get past the gaudy part, you will learn a lot. I know. I did. [Top]

Do you ladies ever use your gifts to help people experiencing grief and depression?

JACKIE & CHRISTINE say: Although we have been able to link the grieving with loved ones who have passed, we do not use our gifts for the purpose of counselling. People with depression and other emotional ailments require specialist care and we encourage you to seek someone qualified. [Top]

How can I protect myself from spiritual influences?

JACKIE & CHRISTINE say: You need to protect yourself any time you are going to work with spirit, or even if you just feel scared. This is not because spirits are out there to hurt you - but not all of them are nice. We don't sprout wings and become angels when we pass, so it's best to be on the safe side. Your guide will make sure you are okay but you must ask for help. To protect yourself, just imagine one of these things:

- You are inside a glass dome and nothing can get through.
- You have just covered yourself in a cloak that reaches to the ground and over you head.
- Put yourself inside a sleeping bag and zip it up from the inside.

The whole idea is to cover and protect yourself. Just remember that by imagining/using your mind, you are using a very powerful tool. The mind is capable of anything, and is the main way of communicating with spirit and the spirit world. [Top]
